Dormac Cape Town has been tasked with changing out the main engine on the Boronia. Sounds simple? It’s not as easy as you might think! First the main and factory decks have to be cut open, and all the factory equipment removed to clear access to the engine. The old engine then has to be rigged out of the vessel and delivered to Wartsilla (OEM) so that components can be rebuilt onto the new engine block. The new 26-ton engine is then transported to the ship, rigged into place, and all the equipment and decks refitted. All in a day’s work for Dormac.
