On the 11th October 2012 Dormac was chosen as the Western Cape’s exporter of the year in the 22nd annual competition run by the Cape Chamber of Commerce and Industry and sponsored by Absa Capital. Ms Viola Manuel, Executive Director of the Chamber said she was delighted that the award had gone to a company that was so passionate about training and developing skills.
Dormac began its training strategies in 2005 having recognised the constraints to their business from a lack of specialised marine trained artisans in the shipping industry in South Arica. Today Dormac is amongst the top companies in South Africa with regard to training initiatives.
Dormac is very pleased to have been part of the Western Cape Exporter of the Year Competition and honoured by the award and recognition received. In particular Dormac is pleased with the exposure this competition has given it to new networks in Western Cape industry, and with the increased visibility of who Dormac are and its efforts to empower people through training and provision of employment in its industry.
In his acceptance speech Dormac Managing Director, Chris Sparg encouraged all fellow finalists in the competition them to use the opportunity of being a finalist to increase their credibility within their market and to pursue beneficial business relationships through the networking opportunity this competition affords them.
Dormac thanks ABSA for once again sponsoring this prestigious competition and the Chamber for their continued efforts to support and serve businesses in the Western Cape.
